Land Diving Attire: Male and Female
During the land diving ritual, the men and women both wear unique, traditional attire. The men wear nambas, or penis sheath. It is a common misconceptiont that the namba is meant to have sexual significance; however, the men of Pentecost claim it is only meant to cover themselves.
The women of Pentecost wear a grass skirt and are usually bare-breasted. Traditionally, the women and men that are not participating in the jump will perform a dance and chant beneath the tower to show their support for the jumpers.
